Vismaya Mohanlal was asked if she inherited her father's action genes his answer wasn't quite what she expected.

The trailer for ‘Thudakkam’, releasing August 7, is out and it marks the debut of Vismaya Mohanlal, daughter of Malayalam superstar Mohanlal. Directed by Jude Anthony Joseph and produced by Antony Perumbavoor under Aashirvad Cinemas, the trailer was launched at an event in Kochi on Monday.
The story follows Vismaya's character in a remote, hilly setting, with Sai Kumar playing her father. Midway, the film moves from family drama to thriller territory. Mohanlal reportedly appears in a cameo and Ashish Joe Antony, son of producer Antony Perumbavoor, makes his acting debut in the film.
Mohanlal on the action question
At the press meet after the launch, Vismaya was asked if the film has action scenes like the ones her father is known for. Mohanlal answered for her, confirming the film does have action, though he joked it may not be as intense as his own.
He credited stunt choreographers Stunt Silva and Yannick Ben, both well-known in the industry. Vismaya's look and transformation in the second half are expected to be a key highlight.
Cast and crew
The screenplay is written by Linish Nellikkal, Akhil Krishna, and Jude Anthony Joseph. Cinematography is by Akhil George and Jomon T. John, editing by Chaman Chakko, music by Jakes Bejoy and sound design by Vishnu Govind. Production design is by Santhosh Raman, makeup by Jithesh Poyya, and costumes by Arun Manohar. Dr Emil Vincent and Dr Anisha Antony are the executive producers.
Jude Anthony Joseph, whose last directorial film in 2018 was a record-breaking blockbuster, calls ‘Thudakkam’ a family entertainer and a fitting start for Vismaya's career.
