The much-anticipated Prithviraj Sukumaran starrer ‘Vilaayath Buddha’ finally has a release date. The film, in which Prithviraj plays a sandalwood smuggler named Double Mohan, will hit cinemas worldwide on November 21, the makers announced on Wednesday.

Directed by Jayan Nambiar and produced by Sandeep Senan under the banner of Urvashi Theatres, ‘Vilaayath Buddha’ is adapted from the acclaimed novel of the same name written by GR Indugopan. The film also stars Priyamvada Krishnan in the female lead role.

The story is set in the lush sandalwood forests of Marayoor, known for their golden-hued trees, and promises a gripping tale of revenge, passion, and love. Co-produced by AV Anoop for AVA Productions, the screenplay has been crafted by GR Indugopan and Rajesh Pinnadan, staying true to the spirit of the original novel while weaving in cinematic elements of thrill and emotion.

Following Urvashi Theatres’ track record with acclaimed titles like ‘Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum’, ‘Sathyam Paranja Viswasikkuvo’, and ‘Saudi Vellakka’, the production house is gearing up for yet another major theatrical release.

The film’s promotional materials — including its posters, teasers, and the chart-topping song ‘Kaattu Raasa’ — have already set social media abuzz. Recently released stills from the promo song shoot, featuring Prithviraj in his rugged new avatar, have further amplified fan excitement ahead of the film’s release.

The ensemble cast also includes Shammi Thilakan, Anu Mohan, Rajashree Nair, and Teejay Arunasalam in pivotal roles.

On the technical front, ‘Vilaayath Buddha’ boasts an impressive crew. Jakes Bejoy has composed the music, while cinematography is handled by Arvind Kashyap, known for his work on ‘Kantara 1 & 2’ and ‘Bell Bottom’, along with Renadive.
