Chennai: The Vijay-starrer ‘Jana Nayagan’ is set to undergo re-censoring on March 9 after running into hurdles related to its certification. The film will be screened at 2 pm before the Revising Committee of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), which will take a fresh call on its certification.

The movie had earlier faced issues during the certification process, leading the makers to seek a review by the CBFC’s Revising Committee. The latest screening comes after a series of legal and procedural steps involving the film’s producers and the censor board.

Industry sources say the makers are hopeful that the Revising Committee’s decision could clear the way for the film’s theatrical release, which has remained uncertain for weeks.

Produced under the banner of KVN Productions and directed by H Vinoth, ‘Jana Nayagan’ has generated huge anticipation among fans, especially as Vijay has indicated that the film could mark his final appearance on the big screen.

The film was originally scheduled to hit theatres on January 9 to coincide with the Pongal festival, a prime release window for Tamil cinema. However, the release plans were disrupted due to the certification dispute, leaving the launch date uncertain.

With the Revising Committee now set to review the film, the producers are hoping the process will conclude soon and allow ‘Jana Nayagan’ to move ahead with its long-awaited theatrical release.
