Mumbai: In a special Mumbai-themed episode of Wheel of Fortune, Bollywood star and show host Akshay Kumar reflected on his deep connection with the city, saying, “Mujhe Mumbai shahar ne bahut kuch diya hai” (“Mumbai city has given me a lot”).

Recounting his early days after arriving in Mumbai, he said he came to the city in 1970 at the age of just three.

He recalled living in a chawl in Sion Koliwada and described Mumbai as a remarkable city with both uplifting and challenging realities. “The city has something in its soil that can lift someone from the bottom to the top, and also bring someone from the top to the bottom,” he said.

He also spoke about his modest beginnings, revealing that his rent was ₹75 per month, which was sometimes difficult to manage. “From there, by God’s grace, we now live in Juhu,” he added.

Akshay reflected on the lessons Mumbai offers, saying that those who work with honesty, hard work, discipline and dedication are rewarded by the city. He also noted that wrongdoing and dishonesty eventually come to nothing.

Expressing gratitude, he said the city has given a great deal to him and his family.

Addressing the audience with an emotional message, he said Mumbai belongs to everyone and offers many opportunities, urging people to continue working honestly and with determination, adding that everyone has something destined for them if they persist.
