Veteran singer Udit Narayan is facing a wave of criticism on social media after a video emerged showing him kissing female fans who approached him for selfies during a live performance. The incident, which has sparked controversy online, was caught on camera and quickly went viral, igniting heated debates.

The video shows Udit Narayan performing on stage when several women come up to him for selfies. In the footage, the singer is seen kissing a woman, first on the cheek and later, on the lips. The first clip shows a woman trying to hug and kiss Udit, with him reciprocating by kissing her on the cheek. The singer continued to kiss other women who came to take photos with him. A male fan attempted to approach Udit, but the singer did not acknowledge him.

In one particularly controversial moment, a woman was initially stopped by security from approaching the stage. However, Udit Narayan gestured for her to be allowed near him, and she took a selfie with him. As she kissed him on the cheek, he kissed her back on the lips. The video of this interaction was widely shared on social media, fueling the controversy.

Ignited a storm of reactions across social media platforms, particularly on X. Some users expressed disbelief, suggesting the video could be AI-generated. One comment read, “Agar AI generated nahi he then dude just destroyed his whole legacy...although iska purana case bhi he (If this isn’t AI-generated, then the dude has destroyed his legacy...although he has old cases similar to this).” 

Others were more vocal in their criticism, labelling the singer’s actions as “disgusting” and accusing him of predatory behaviour. "Very disgusting. Predators," one comment read, while another user referred to it as “molestation.” Several fans trolled the 69-year-old singer for what they saw as inappropriate conduct. “Creep,” one user wrote. 

However, there were also voices defending Udit Narayan, questioning if the women involved were forced into the situation. Some argued that since the women came willingly, there was no issue. “If no one forced them and they came voluntarily, what’s the problem?” a commenter pointed out.

As of now, Udit Narayan has not publicly addressed the controversy. The video’s origin remains unclear, and many are unsure about the authenticity of the footage. 

In the midst of the backlash, old clips of Udit Narayan kissing female colleagues like Alka Yagnik and Shreya Ghoshal have resurfaced on social media, intensifying the criticism. In one such clip, Udit Narayan kissed Alka Yagnik on the cheek during a performance, leaving her visibly shocked and prompting her to move away quickly. Another video showed him kissing Shreya Ghoshal on the cheek in a similar fashion. While the singer has worked closely with both Alka Yagnik and Shreya Ghoshal over the years, these clips have added fuel to the ongoing controversy.

Despite his long-standing and successful career in the music industry, which includes numerous hits, four National Awards, and prestigious honours like the Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan, Udit Narayan's reputation is now facing intense scrutiny.
