Tamil actor Sivakarthikeyan has openly admitted that he believes the biggest mistake in his 2022 film Prince was his involvement in the project. In a candid interview with 'Galatta Plus', the actor explained that if a less established actor had taken on the role, the outcome might have been different.

Directed by K.V. Anudeep, who co-wrote the story with Mohan Sato, Prince stars Sivakarthikeyan in his 20th film, alongside Maria Ryaboshapka and veteran actor Sathyaraj. Despite the presence of strong talent, the film struggled to make a considerable impact at the box office.

Reflecting on the film's failure, Sivakarthikeyan stated, “The biggest mistake in Prince was me. If I had been a newcomer, perhaps the result would have been different. The success of Anudeep's previous film, Jathi Ratnalu, and how much I enjoyed it, led me to accept Prince. I thought the script was good, and I agreed to it without hesitation.”

He further acknowledged that potential issues with the communication between him and the director, as well as weaknesses in the script, may have contributed to the film's disappointing performance. However, Sivakarthikeyan was clear that had another actor, perhaps a newcomer, taken the role, the audience might have responded more positively.

While Prince struggled at the box office, Sivakarthikeyan is now looking ahead with his latest project, Amaran, where he stars as Major Mukund Varadarajan, based on the true story of the Indian Army officer. Directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, Amaran also features Sai Pallavi in a leading role, playing Indhu Rebecca Varghese. Produced under the banner of Kamal Haasan's Raj Kamal Films, Amaran is generating buzz for its emotional storyline and strong performances.

In sum, Sivakarthikeyan’s candid reflection on Prince demonstrates both a sense of accountability and a desire to learn from the experience, while the success of his latest film, Amaran, has given a new trajectory to his career. (With inputs from Agencies)
