Chennai: Thalapathy Vijay’s highly anticipated final film, Jana Nayagan, will hit theatres worldwide on January 9, 2026, the makers announced on Monday. Directed by H. Vinoth and produced by KVN Productions, this epic film is poised to be a fitting conclusion to the illustrious career of one of Tamil cinema's biggest stars.

Touted as a magnum opus, Jana Nayagan is being hailed as a tribute to Vijay’s remarkable journey in the film industry and beyond. The film’s release timing, just before the festive season of Makar Sankranti and Pongal (January 14, 2026), is expected to add to the buzz, with the period traditionally known for blockbuster films and family-centric celebrations.

Vijay has consistently delivered major hits during the Pongal season, and the excitement surrounding his farewell film is at an all-time high. With a long five-day weekend during the festive period, combined with the anticipation of his final cinematic performance, Jana Nayagan is expected to break records at the box office.

The first-look poster of the film, which was released earlier, quickly went viral, showcasing Vijay standing tall among an electrified crowd, symbolising his enduring bond with his fans. The title, Jana Nayagan (The People’s Leader), reflects Vijay’s larger-than-life persona, both on-screen and off, cementing his status as a beloved figure in Tamil cinema.

In addition to Jana Nayagan, KVN Productions is also behind other highly anticipated films, including Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown Ups and Bad Good Ugly. The movie is set to be distributed globally by Phars Film, ensuring that Vijay’s cinematic swan song reaches audiences worldwide.
