Politician Tej Pratap Yadav has spoken about his troubled marriage to Aishwarya Rai, alleging that he once saw her exchanging messages with a former boyfriend. The politician, who is currently appearing on the streaming reality show ‘Rise and Fall’, opened up about their strained relationship and ongoing divorce proceedings during a conversation on the show.

A clip featuring Tej Pratap discussing the breakdown of his marriage has been circulating on social media, drawing attention to his account of the events that led to their separation.

Recalling the early months of their marriage, Tej Pratap said the relationship was marked by frequent arguments and claimed that the marriage had taken place under pressure. He also spoke about the challenges he faced while serving as Bihar’s Health Minister.

“We had a fight. It was a new marriage. We had a fight for three months. We were different. We got married under pressure. I was a minister at that time, Health Minister of Bihar. I didn't feel like going home. Sometimes I stayed at my friend's house. Sometimes I went somewhere else. She wouldn't let me leave the house early”.

He also described differences in their daily routines, claiming that Aishwarya objected to his morning prayers while staying up late to party.

“I used to pray at 6 or 7 in the morning. She didn't like it. She told me not to pray. She used to party till 4 or 5 in the morning. I got married in an arranged marriage. I had gone to the Vidhan Sabha. I came back home in the evening. I was entering the bedroom. She was chatting with a boy. She had an ex-boyfriend. She was chatting with him. She was sending him a heart message. She was sending him everything. I saw it all from a distance”.

Tej Pratap further claimed that he had recorded arguments between the couple and used the footage as evidence in court. He said the recordings helped him document what had happened during their disputes.

“One positive thing about me was that whenever she fought, I used to make a video of it. It became our evidence. I put it up in the court. Boys are not always wrong. Girls are also wrong”.

The politician also spoke about the emotional impact of the relationship, saying that arguments and raised voices continue to affect him.

“That's why whenever there is a fight, I get traumatized”, he added.

Tej Pratap Yadav and Aishwarya Rai’s marriage

Tej Pratap is the elder son of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi. He married Aishwarya Rai in May 2018, but the relationship encountered difficulties within months, leading him to file for divorce. Their separation subsequently became a widely discussed family and political controversy.

In May 2025, Lalu Prasad Yadav announced Tej Pratap’s expulsion from the RJD for six years and said he was severing family ties with his son. The decision followed a now-deleted social media post in which Tej Pratap had claimed to be in a relationship with another woman for 12 years.

Tej Pratap later alleged that his social media account had been hacked and that the images shared in connection with the post had been manipulated.
