Several media reports on Friday claimed that actors Tamannaah Bhatia and Kajal Aggarwal might be called for questioning by Puducherry police, with regard to a cryptocurrency fraud scam with Rs. 2.4 crore. Following the reports of her alleged involvement in the scam, the ‘Lust Stories 2’ actor issued a statement, clarifying her involvement.
As per Hindustan Times, Tamannaah exclusively informed that the reports alleging her involvement are 'fake and misleading'. “It has come to my attention that rumours are being circulated alleging my involvement and dealing with cryptocurrency. I’d like to request my friends in the media not to circulate any such fake, misleading, and false reports and rumours,” she told the media house.
The actor further said that her team is looking into legal action over the issue. She added in her statement: "In the meantime, my team is looking into the same to initiate appropriate action."
While Tamannaah has issued her statement, no official word from Kajal has been reported so far. At the same time, police have also not issued any statement over the alleged questioning of the two actors.
What is the cryptocurrency scam about?
As per a Telugu news portal, one Ashokan, hailing from Puducherry, complained to the local police claiming that a company based out of Coimbatore had cheated him and his 10 friends of Rs. 2.4 crore on the pretext of investing their money in a cryptocurrency scheme. The complainant further alleged that actors Tamannaah had attended the company’s launch event in 2022 and Kajal too attended a similar event that was held in Mahabaleshwar, Maharashtra.
On the work front
Meanwhile, Tamannaah was last seen in ‘Sikandar Ka Muqaddar’, co-starring Jimmy Sheirgill and Avinash Tiwary, which was released in November 2024. She also had an extended cameo in the 2024 blockbuster hit ‘Stree 2: Sirkate Ka Atank.’ The actor will next be seen in ‘Odela 2,’ a Telugu film helmed by Ashok Teja and written by Sampath Nandi.
