Spoiler Alert: Major spoilers ahead for ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’.

‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ ends with a major tease that could shape Tom Holland's future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While the film wraps up Peter Parker's latest battle in New York, its ending and post-credits scene strongly hint that his next adventure may take place far beyond Earth.

One of the biggest reveals is Sadie Sink's role as Jean Grey. Initially positioned as the film's main antagonist, Jean is eventually revealed to be seeking justice after the Department of Damage Control kidnapped and killed her older sister, Sara.

After learning the truth, Spider-Man convinces Jean to end the psychic bubble that has trapped nearly all of New York City. He even takes a sniper bullet meant for her after the Punisher, played by Jon Bernthal, attempts to kill her. Jean later leaves the city, with the film hinting that she could be headed to Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters.

The emotional ending also revisits Peter's relationship with Ned Leeds. Because of Doctor Strange's spell in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’, Ned no longer remembers Peter. However, when Peter introduces himself again and the two instinctively perform their old secret handshake, Ned appears to briefly regain his memories. The moment raises a new question: could Zendaya's MJ eventually remember Peter too?

The biggest surprise, however, arrives in the post-credits scene. Ned's Spider-Man tracking app begins locating the web-slinger before zooming farther and farther out, showing that Spider-Man is no longer on Earth but somewhere in space. The screen then confirms that "Spider-Man will return," though it doesn't reveal where.

Tom Holland has not been officially announced as part of the massive cast of ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, leaving room for speculation about a surprise appearance. If not, the tease could instead point toward ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’, where Marvel's Battleworld storyline could unite heroes from across the multiverse including the possible return of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield alongside Holland.
