Recently, actress Shobana took to Instagram with a curious post that sparked a flurry of guesses. She shared a painting depicting a woman playing the veena by a riverside, watched by a man—asking her followers to guess who painted that and who were the people in the painting

Her caption added intrigue: A painting by an actress, a friend, a director, a cameraman, a philanthropist- Guess who? And the people in the painting..…

The comment section lit up with speculation. Many guessed it was Revathy behind the brush, while others believed Shobana herself had painted it. Some were convinced the figures were Rajinikanth and Shobana from the movie ‘Thalapathi’, while Malayali fans insisted it was Mohanlal and Shobana from Pakshe.

Eventually, Shobana revealed the answer: “None other than Suhasini. She joined the Madras Film Institute to study cinematography and became the first woman to graduate in the field.”

The revelation reignited admiration for Suhasini’s multifaceted career. She debuted as a director with Pen, an anthology mini-series for Madras Doordarshan, followed by Indira, starring Arvind Swamy and Anu Hasan. She later directed the short film Swayamvaram, featuring Suchitra Krishnamoorthi and Rajiv Menon, and most recently helmed Coffee, Anyone? for Amazon Prime’s ‘Putham Pudhu Kaalai’ anthology. Suhasini also plays an active role in Madras Talkies, the production house co-run with her husband and director Mani Ratnam.
