Kochi: Actor Shine Tom Chacko has received a major relief in the ongoing drug case against him. Forensic tests conducted on samples collected during a hotel raid in April have come back negative, confirming that the actor had not consumed any narcotics.

The investigation team had collected hair and nail samples from Shine Tom Chacko to check possible drug use. The report found no traces of banned substances. Earlier, his friend Ahmad Murshad, who was also arrested in connection with the case, had been released.

The case stems from an incident in April when the District Anti-Narcotics Special Action Force (DANSAF) received a tip-off about suspected drug use at a luxury hotel in Kochi. During the raid, Shine Tom Chacko reportedly escaped, with CCTV footage capturing him jumping from the second floor into a swimming pool, exiting via the emergency staircase, and leaving through the hotel lobby. No drugs were recovered from the hotel room at the time.

Following the incident, the actor was served a notice and a formal case was registered against him. He was charged under sections related to drug use and conspiracy, but was later released on bail.

With the latest forensic report clearing him of any drug consumption, the police have faced setback in the case against the actor.
