Malayalam film producer Shibu Baby John has stated that the 2024 film Malaikottai Vaaliban, directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery and starring Mohanlal, was not financially a loss.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Shibu Baby John said, "When a film releases in theaters, if the two-hour content engages the audience, it does well. If not, it doesn't. Beyond that, what is there to discuss? Is there anything to analyze after the movie's release?"

He further revealed that despite the Mohanlal-starrer not reaching the expected levels of revenue, the film earned significant amounts through other channels, including OTT platforms, satellite rights, and music sales.

When asked about a possible sequel to Vaaliban, he clarified, "There are no thoughts on a second part right now. I have completely moved on from it. While I was involved in the project initially, I am no longer connected to it. To be clear, the second part is not under consideration."

Earlier, he had rejected rumors about Vaaliban being a flop during an interview with Mathrubhumi.com. He emphasized that the film did not fail but did not perform as expected at the box office.

Despite mixed responses at the box office, the film was praised for its gripping storyline and stunning visuals.
