Shalini also spoke about the relationship between Ajith and fellow actor Vijay

Actress Shalini has captured audiences’ hearts with her memorable performances in a relatively short span of time. Having started her career as Baby Shalini in Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam films, she was welcomed warmly by fans when she transitioned into leading roles. After her love marriage to Tamil actor Ajith Kumar, however, Shalini stepped away from the film industry.
Speaking at the JFW Awards ceremony, Shalini shared some personal insights about her family and life at home. She revealed that her children have not watched any of her films.
“My children haven’t watched a single one of my movies. They say they’ll watch them someday, but it never happens,” Shalini said. “Recently, my daughter wanted to watch the movie Alaipayuthey because her friend said it was beautiful, and she said she would watch it with me. But that didn’t happen either.”

Shalini also shared a light-hearted anecdote about her son’s excitement when she told him about attending the awards ceremony. “He told his friends enthusiastically that he was going with me. His favourite football player is Ronaldinho, and he said that just as Ronaldinho presents the Ballon d’Or, I would be giving an award to someone. When I asked if he’d like to watch one of my films, he just said, ‘I’ll watch it later, Mum,’” she recalled.
The actress also praised her husband’s culinary skills. “Ajith cooks wonderfully. He has prepared biryani at home many times. He can cook not just for a family of five or six, but for up to a hundred people. Cooking is a passion for him. Whenever anyone visits our home, the first thing he asks is, ‘Have you eaten?’ He genuinely loves cooking for others,” Shalini said.
Shalini also spoke about the relationship between Ajith and fellow actor Vijay. She noted that, despite fans often dividing themselves into rival factions, the two actors share a cordial bond. “Both of them are genuinely happy for each other’s success,” she added.
