Sathyan Anthikad recalls his final conversations with Sreenivasan, reflecting on a friendship and creative partnership that shaped Malayalam cinema.

The Sathyan Anthikad–Mohanlal–Sreenivasan creative trio gifted Malayalam cinema several timeless classics, including 'Nadodikkattu', 'Pattanapravesham', 'Gandhinagar 2nd Street' and 'Varavelpu', films that continue to resonate across generations.
Following the death of Sreenivasan, veteran filmmaker Sathyan Anthikad recalled his long association with the actor and screenwriter, speaking with visible emotion about their final years together.
Anthikad said he visited Sreenivasan regularly, often once every two weeks, and would spend the entire day at his home. “I used to go in the morning and stay till evening,” he said, describing the closeness of their friendship beyond the cinema.
Recalling the period after Sreenivasan’s health deteriorated following a fall, Anthikad said his longtime collaborator had expressed a sense of exhaustion. Sreenivasan, who struggled to walk after the accident, had hoped he would regain mobility with the help of a walker after surgery.
“He was unwell for some time. The last time we spoke, he told me he had had enough,” Anthikad said. “I told him, ‘It doesn’t matter. We can come back,” he added, reflecting on their final conversation.
The memories underscore the depth of a creative partnership that shaped an era of Malayalam cinema and a personal bond that endured long after the cameras stopped rolling.
