Kochi: Producer Listin Stephen has recently sparked controversy with his statement that a leading actor has set off a serious issue, which, if not addressed, could lead to even bigger problems.

The remark was made by producer Listin Stephen during the official launch of Dileep’s 150th film, Prince and Family. Many criticised him for making such a statement without naming the actor directly.

Following this, actress and producer Sandra Thomas has come forward with strong criticism against him. She stated that Listin's remarks cast a shadow of doubt over all actors in the Malayalam film industry. Sandra has demanded that Listin be immediately removed not just from the office-bearer position but also from primary membership of the Film Producers’ Association.

Sandra Thomas posted the following on social media:

"Do even the office-bearers of the Film Producers’ Association no longer trust the association?"

“One of the primary objectives of film organisations is to resolve issues within the industry amicably. However, during a recent public event, Listin Stephen, who is an office-bearer of the Film Producers’ Association, made an inappropriate statement that casts suspicion on all actors in Malayalam cinema. Such statements are not only inappropriate but also against the rules of the organisation. Listin Stephen, who is causing harm to Malayalam cinema through such remarks, should be immediately removed from both his position and membership in the association.”

“When I personally faced an issue and proceeded legally within the laws of this country, the association was quick to suspend me, even when that decision did not hold up in court. That same leadership should now show the same urgency and commitment in taking action against Listin Stephen. I also urge the Kerala Film Chamber, as a higher body, to intervene and take appropriate steps in this matter.”

During the launch of Dileep’s upcoming movie, Listin said, “A prominent actor in Malayalam cinema has set off something that could turn into a serious problem—it’s like triggering a powerful firecracker, which was completely avoidable. The actor I’m referring to will understand this message. What he did was a significant mistake, and I want to remind him not to repeat it. If it continues, it could lead to major consequences.”
