Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, who underwent surgery after being stabbed multiple times during a robbery attempt at his Bandra residence, is set to be discharged from the hospital on Tuesday afternoon.
According to doctors at Lilavati Hospital, Saif is expected to leave the hospital today, but they have advised him to rest for several more days.
The attack happened on the night of January 16, when a burglar broke into the actor's home around 2:15 am. The intruder first attacked the house help and then Saif when he intervened. Saif sustained six stab wounds, two of which were serious and near his spine.
Reports suggest that doctors successfully removed a 2.5-inch knife from his injury. After undergoing surgery, Saif was moved to the ICU and is now out of danger.
Medical professionals decided on January 20 to keep him under observation for one more day.
Meanwhile, Mumbai Police arrested the attacker, Mohammed Shehzad, from Thane. He was later identified as a Bangladeshi national who had entered India illegally. Shehzad, who had been a national-level wrestling champion in Bangladesh, claimed that he was unaware of the actor’s identity at the time of the attack.
This claim was corroborated by the rickshaw driver who had taken Saif to the hospital. The driver also stated that he did not recognize the actor. Additionally, Saif’s elder son, Taimur, accompanied him to the police station.
At the time of the attack, Saif’s wife, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and other family members were at home.
