Debuting in Premam (a Malayalam film), Sai Pallavi is now one of the most revered stars in Indian cinema. Apart from her acting abilities, she is a brilliant dancer, making her an integral part of the film industry. She continues to enthrall audiences with her performances and has several big-ticket films lined up for release.

In a recent interview with Galatta Plus, Sai Pallavi spoke about how once she really wished to win a National Award and the sentimental reason behind it. She shared a touching personal story about a saree gifted to her by her grandmother when she was 21. At the time, her grandmother, who was bedridden after surgery, gave her the saree and expressed her wish for Sai Pallavi to wear it on her wedding day.

“At that age, I believed that marriage was the next big step in life. I had not yet acted in my first film. Later, when I was around 23 or 24 and had completed Premam, I thought that if I ever won a major award, I would wear that saree to the ceremony,” she said.

Reflecting on the significance of the award, she added, “The National Award is one of the highest honours we have. So, for me, it is intriguingly linked to that saree. I used to think that if I ever received a National Award, I would take that opportunity to wear it.”

However, now, after spending over a decade in the industry, Sai Pallavi emphasized that true success lies in her ability to make audiences feel the emotions of the characters she portrays. “When people connect with the pain and emotions of my characters, that is my real victory as an actor. Everything that follows, including awards, is simply a bonus,” she stated.

When asked whether she values awards or audience love more, she was clear in her preference. “If I had to choose between awards and people’s love, I would always pick their love,” she concluded.
