A copyright row has broken out over Raanjhan, a track from Netflix’s ‘Do Patti’.

Days after international producer KMKZ accused the film’s music team of lifting his piano bit without permission, composers Sachet-Parampara have firmly denied the claim. The duo insist the accusation is “completely baseless” and have announced legal action for defamation.

What did Sachet-Parampara say?

In a statement to HT, Sachet-Parampara responded strongly to the allegation.

“The person alleging they composed the music for Raanjhan is making completely baseless accusations, clearly intended to stir controversy and gain visibility. With the consultation of my lawyers, we have issued a defamation notice, and we are prepared to take strict legal action to address this malicious attempt to discredit our work.”

The composers added that they had already taken steps to establish their authorship. “We’ve already provided the original session files and piano scores to YouTube, Spotify, and other streaming platforms, all of which confirmed our authorship and rejected any other copyright claims,” they said.

What was KMKZ’s allegation?

On Instagram, KMKZ alleged that his music had been used without credit. He said, “I posted this beat about 2 years ago. And then fast forward to just recently, someone sent me this message saying that they found a song and they recognised the piano as one of my beats, and they didn't see me credited.”

The producer also noted that he had attempted to reach out to the label but received no reply.
