Mumbai: Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan may be gearing up for a grand debut at the Met Gala 2025, if designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee’s cryptic Instagram stories are anything to go by. The celebrated couturier sparked speculation on Monday by posting two intriguing messages on Instagram Stories: “KING KHAN”, followed by “KING KHAN BENGAL TIGER” — the latter accompanied by his brand’s emblem featuring a royal Bengal tiger.

The subtle clues were enough to send fans into a frenzy, interpreting the posts as a stylish nod to SRK’s potential look for this year’s prestigious fashion gala.

For the uninitiated, the Bengal tiger — symbolising power, grace, and nobility — is a central element of Sabyasachi’s brand identity, often representing opulence and heritage in his designs.

Adding to the anticipation, Shah Rukh Khan landed in New York on Sunday, just ahead of the star-studded event. While there has been no official confirmation yet about his attendance, the timing and Sabyasachi’s teaser have fuelled strong speculation that SRK will indeed walk the Met Gala red carpet this year.

Set to take place on May 5 at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the 2025 Met Gala will follow the theme ‘Superfine: Tailoring Black Style’, an exploration of fashion’s relationship with Black culture and identity — tied to an upcoming exhibition at the museum.

This year’s gala co-chairs include an eclectic group of creatives: musician and designer Pharrell Williams, actor Colman Domingo, rapper A$AP Rocky, and British Formula One star Lewis Hamilton.

As the countdown begins, fans are eagerly watching for Shah Rukh Khan’s possible debut at the fashion world’s most exclusive event.
