Ryan Reynolds stunned Comic-Con with Deadpool appearance and his hilarious exchange with Marvel stars has fans wondering if an Avengers: Doomsday cameo is closer than ever.

Ryan Reynolds made appearances at San Diego Comic-Con 2026, slipping back into character as Deadpool for Marvel Studios' Hall H presentation while playfully campaigning for a role in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’.
Reynolds emerged from the audience dressed in Deadpool's gray suit, a costume previously seen in X-Force comics but never on the big screen. Introducing himself as "Ricky" and joking that he was "cosplaying hard," the actor kicked off the bit with a question for Paul Rudd: "First question is for Mr. Paul Rudd. Where is Thor, and why was he crying?"
The joke referenced the emotional scene from ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ (2024), where Chris Hemsworth's Thor is seen holding a dying Deadpool. Rudd fired back, "He's a Wrexham fan?", a playful dig at the football club Reynolds co-owns. Reynolds replied, "You know goddamn well why he was crying."
Deadpool then turned his attention to Marvel's upcoming film, asking, "This seems like an awfully expensive way to announce a film. When do you start filming?" Robert Downey Jr., returning to the MCU as Doctor Doom, responded, "It's in the can, bro. Look around you. Did you bump your head?"
A visibly disappointed Deadpool continued, "I see. So there's no additional photography, no overages, hot costs, maybe last minute additions?" before ending the exchange with, "No further questions. Happy Hogan, fetch the Audi. We're leaving," and walking out of Hall H.
Although Marvel has not officially confirmed Reynolds' involvement in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, speculation about Deadpool joining the film has continued since ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ became a global box office success, earning more than $1.3 billion worldwide.
Meanwhile, People noted that Reynolds' Comic-Con appearance marked a rare solo public outing. The actor swapped Deadpool's signature red-and-black suit for a patchwork denim version while appearing without wife Blake Lively. The appearance came weeks after Justin Baldoni and his wife, Emily Baldoni, publicly addressed their nearly two-year legal dispute involving Reynolds and Lively.
People further reported that Lively and Baldoni reached an out-of-court settlement on May 4, but the legal proceedings continue as Lively seeks $8.4 million in legal fees and expenses. The request includes $7.5 million for two law firms and more than $540,000 in additional costs. Baldoni's legal team has challenged the amount, calling it "excessive" and asking the court to dismiss or reduce the request.
