
The Malayalam film ‘Manjummel Boys’ garnered acclaim at the KinoBravo International Film Festival in Russia by winning the award for Best Music. The accolade was presented to composer Sushin Shyam, with director Chidambaram accepting the award on behalf of the film.
‘Manjummel Boys’ was the only Indian film featured in the competitive section of the festival. Other notable films in the non-competitive category included Payal Kapadia’s ‘All We Imagine as Light’ and S.S. Rajamouli’s ‘RRR’. The festival took place in Sochi, Russia.
Marco Müller, an Italian critic, film historian, and producer, served as the jury chair, while Indian filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj was a jury member.
Director Chidambaram expressed his emotions following the screening, noting that many Russian viewers were moved to tears by the film. He shared with the Times of India that numerous attendees approached him after the screening, expressing their appreciation and even embracing him. He also mentioned that there were questions about the film's setting and making during a face-to-face session.
This recognition underscores the growing influence of Indian cinema on international platforms, highlighting the emotional resonance of ‘Manjummel Boys’ with audiences abroad.
