Guwahati (Assam): The highly anticipated Assamese film Roi Roi Binale, a passion project of the late music icon Zubeen Garg, is set for a nationwide release on 31st October, as confirmed by filmmaker Rajesh Bhuyan.

Speaking to ANI, Bhuyan revealed that the film – which had been in development for the past three years – was envisioned and musically composed by Zubeen Garg himself. He described the film as "the first musical Assamese movie", highlighting Garg’s deep involvement in both its narrative and musical creation.

“We were working on this movie for the last three years. The story and music of the movie were by Zubeen Garg... This was the first musical Assamese movie... We had completed almost all the work on the movie, except for the background music...,” Bhuyan said.

Honouring Garg's wish, the film will release on the date he had originally chosen. “Zubeen Garg wanted this movie to be released on 31st October, so we have decided to release it on the same date, not just in Assam, but nationwide... Zubeen Garg's voice is almost 80–90% clear, as we had recorded it using a lapel mic. So we will use his original voice only,” he added.

The film is now being seen as a tribute to Garg’s enduring legacy and his immense contribution to Assamese music and cinema.

Meanwhile, investigations continue into the singer's untimely death. Zubeen Garg passed away in Singapore on 19th September, reportedly after a drowning incident. However, disturbing allegations have since emerged, with his bandmate Shekhar Jyoti Goswami accusing Garg’s manager, Siddharth Sharma, and event organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta of deliberately choosing a foreign venue to conceal what he claims was a conspiracy involving poisoning.

Both Sharma and Mahanta have been arrested by police in connection with the case. Shekhar Jyoti Goswami and co-singer Amritprava Mahanta have also been taken into custody as part of the ongoing investigation.
