The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has completed its investigation into the sexual assault case against director Ranjith and is set to file the charge sheet soon. The SIT has reportedly found evidence supporting the allegation of sexual assault. No additional sections are expected to be added to the case.
Investigators have found no evidence that actor Bobby Kurien or co-director Shalini assisted Ranjith in going into hiding. There is also no information suggesting that Ranjith threatened the survivor. However, there are indications that attempts at a settlement were made prior to the case being filed.
Meanwhile, Ranjith has decided to approach the court seeking relaxation of his bail conditions. He is expected to file a petition tomorrow requesting permission to leave the district.
Ranjith was recently released from jail after the Ernakulam First Class Magistrate Court granted him conditional bail, taking into account his health condition. He had spent 10 days in custody. As part of the bail conditions, he assured the court that he would fully cooperate with the investigation and appear before the investigating officer whenever required.

In his defence, Ranjith stated that he had criticised a young actress and reduced some scenes featuring her, as her performance did not meet expectations. He claimed this was known to everyone on set and suggested that the complaint arose out of resentment.
However, the prosecution maintains that substantial evidence has been gathered against him. It also argued that there was a possibility of witnesses being influenced, particularly as key witnesses are associated with his film. The court did not accept this argument. Ranjith has assured the court that he will not influence witnesses or enter areas where they reside.
The court also noted that denial of guilt does not amount to non-cooperation with the investigation, and that he may appear before the investigating officer at any time.
Ranjith was arrested on 1 April on charges of sexually assaulting a young actress on a film set in Fort Kochi. He was later taken into police custody the same night after his car was intercepted in Thodupuzha.
