Although Ranjith is out on bail, the investigation into the alleged assault and the circumstances surrounding his movements remains active.

Kochi: Authorities interrogated actor Bobby Kurien on Thursday in connection with the sexual assault case involving film director Ranjith, focusing on allegations that the actor facilitated the director's attempt to evade law enforcement.
The investigation follows the late-night apprehension of Ranjith near Thodupuzha. At the time of the arrest, the director was reportedly travelling in a vehicle belonging to Kurien.
Interrogation and Contradictions
During the questioning, Kurien reportedly maintained that he had no prior knowledge of the legal proceedings or the specific accusations against Ranjith. According to reports, the actor claimed he only became aware of the situation after being detained by investigators.
Police officials, however, have expressed scepticism regarding Kurien’s testimony. The investigative team has suggested that the actor may be required to return for subsequent rounds of questioning as more evidence is compiled.
Expanding Investigation
The case, which centres on allegations of sexual assault against a young actress, has led to a broader inquiry into the events surrounding the incident. Prior to Kurien’s interrogation, assistant director Shalini was also questioned by the police.
Investigators are currently in the process of documenting statements from various crew members who were present on the film set where the alleged assault occurred.
Legal Status
While Ranjith was initially arrested and placed in judicial custody, he has since been released on bail. Despite his release, law enforcement officials emphasised that the investigation remains active as they continue to substantiate the claims and examine the circumstances of the director's movements prior to his arrest.
