Ranbir Kapoor recalls planning a surprise proposal for Alia Bhatt in Kenya's Masai Mara, with three lions watching from a distance.

Ranbir Kapoor may be known for his understated romantic gestures, but his proposal to Alia Bhatt involved a rather wild setting, a secret plan and three lions watching from a distance. The actor recently revisited one of the most memorable moments of his life, revealing how he got down on one knee to pop the question during their holiday in Kenya's Masai Mara.
The story came up during Ranbir's appearance on Amitabh Bachchan's Kaun Banega Crorepati 18. A promo for the upcoming episode shows the actor sharing the proposal details while accompanied by his Ramayana co-stars Nitesh Tiwari, Ravi Dubey, Sai Pallavi and producer Namit Malhotra.
Ranbir revealed that he had secretly coordinated with their guide, who was also their driver, to stop at a particular spot in the middle of the jungle. He had carried an engagement ring with him and planned to surprise Alia by getting down on one knee while the guide captured the moment from a distance.
Explaining his elaborate plan, the actor joked that he wanted photographs of the proposal because women love taking pictures and sharing them on Instagram.
Amitabh Bachchan, amused by the story, had a quick response: "Proof toh hona chahiye" (There should be proof).
But it was Ranbir's description of what happened next that stole the moment. Recalling the presence of three lions roughly 100 metres away, he drew a playful comparison between himself and Alia.
