Mumbai: The first official review of the highly anticipated action epic Dhurandhar 2 is out, and it comes from none other than filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma (RGV). Taking to X on Wednesday, Varma delivered a glowing, hyper-energetic endorsement of the Aditya Dhar directorial, calling it the "birth of a new cinematic order" that effectively renders previous masterpieces extinct.
Varma, known for his unfiltered takes on Indian cinema, went as far as to say that legendary films like Mughal-e-Azam and Sholay would look like "TV serials" when compared to the technical and psychological impact of Dhurandhar 2.

After attending an early screening, Varma claimed the film is a "grammar-breaking" experience that sets a new gold standard for global filmmaking.
"After last nights watch of #Dhurandhar2 in terms of it’s sheer cumulative impact in every which way, whether on it’s expected collections, audience euphoria, social influences, cinematic grammar breaking, and above all the psychological audio visual impact, it will be a SHOLAY x 100 level magnificence," Varma wrote. He further advised global legends like Steven Spielberg and Christopher Nolan to "drop everything they’re doing" and catch the film's first-day, first-show screening to understand the future of directing.

Dhurandhar 2 Box Office predictions:
Beyond the artistic merit, Varma predicts a massive seismic shift at the Indian box office. Speaking with Variety India, the director estimated that if Dhurandhar 2 hits the ₹1,500–₹2,000 crore mark, it could dismantle the current dominance of South Indian "mass" entertainers.
"All South films are designed in the old-school manner," Varma noted, contrasting them with the "real" and grounded intensity of Aditya Dhar’s vision. He compared the trajectory of the film to the Baahubali franchise, suggesting that because the two parts were shot simultaneously, the audience's emotional investment in the characters would drive the sequel to even greater heights than the first instalment.
