A few new CCTV footage from Sandhya Theatre has brought light to the tragic stampede that occurred during the premiere of Pushpa 2: The Rise earlier this month, resulting in the death of a 35-year-old woman, Revathi, and injuring several others.

One of the footage shows a chaotic scene where large crowds rushed into the theatre, ignoring the efforts of security staff trying to control the situation. In one clip, a man can be seen using a wooden stick to halt the crowd’s advance, only to be pushed back by the surging masses. Despite attempts to maintain order, the frenzy led to the fatal stampede.

In addition, another CCTV video surfaced showing Allu Arjun being escorted by his team after the premiere appearance, allegedly after the stampede had already occurred.

As the investigation continues, Telugu actor Allu Arjun was summoned by the Hyderabad Police for questioning. Arjun, accompanied by his lawyer Ashok Reddy, faced around four hours of inquiry regarding his role in the incident.

Police have raised several key questions in connection with the events leading up to the tragedy.

According to sources, among the main queries was whether Allu Arjun had obtained permission from the theatre management in advance to visit Sandhya Theatre for the Pushpa 2 premiere. The police also inquired if the actor or his public relations team had secured prior approval from the police to attend the screening.

Additionally, investigators asked about the number of security personnel, or bouncers, Allu had arranged for the event and whether his PR team had briefed him about the situation at the theatre beforehand. These questions are part of a broader probe into whether adequate measures were in place to ensure the safety of the crowd during the event.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Central Zone, Akshansh Yadav led the police team which examined him. Assistant Commissioner of Police L. Ramesh Kumar and Inspector Raju Naik were also present during the questioning.

The Pushpa star left for his residence from Chikkadpally Police Station around 3 p.m. amid tight security. It was immediately unclear if the police had asked Allu Arjun to appear for interrogation again.

The incident, which occurred on December 4, led to widespread outrage and concerns over crowd management at public events. Following the tragic stampede, a case was filed against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

On December 13, Arjun was arrested in connection with the case, but he was granted a four-week interim bail by the Telangana High Court later that day. He was released from prison on the morning of December 14.

In the wake of the tragedy, Allu Arjun announced a financial contribution of Rs 25 lakh to the victim’s family, while the producers of Pushpa 2 extended further support with a Rs 50 lakh aid. The investigation is ongoing, and Arjun may be called back to the theatre for further inquiries.

This incident has raised serious questions about crowd control at high-profile events, with authorities and the public keen to understand whether enough precautions were taken to prevent such a tragic outcome.
