Kochi: An investigation report by the Ernakulam Maradu Police into a case involving the producers of 'Manjummel Boys' claims they committed significant financial fraud.
The case, based on a complaint filed by Alappuzha native Siraj Valiyaveettil, levels serious allegations against producers Soubin Shahir, Babu Shahir, and Shawn Antony.
The report submitted to the High Court details the investigation process, including statements collected from the complainant and the examination of the bank documents. Based on this, the probe team concluded that the producers were engaged in financial fraud. Meanwhile, the police have registered a case on charges of criminal conspiracy, betrayal of trust, and forgery.
Siraj claims that he invested Rs. 7 crore under the impression that the film's total budget was Rs. 22 crore, only to later discover that it amounted to Rs. 18.65 crore. Also, the accused misled Siraj by falsely asserting that the film's first schedule had been completed, even though filming had not yet commenced.
Despite promises of a 40 per cent profit share, he received no payment, amounting to an alleged loss of around Rs 47 crores. The investigation highlights discrepancies in the filmmakers' claims and bank records, suggesting deliberate deception by the Parava Film Company.
