The makers of ‘Varanasi’ unveiled Priyanka Chopra's fresh looks as Mandakini on July 18, giving fans their first glimpse of her character in SS Rajamouli's next epic. The newly released stills show Chopra in a rugged, adventure-ready avatar with windswept hair, earthy-toned costumes and an intense expression, hinting at the high-stakes journey her character is set to undertake. The birthday reveal also arrived weeks after the actor shared fresh details about the ambitious action-adventure and her experience of working with Rajamouli.

In the newly released images, Chopra sports a rugged, adventure-ready look with windswept hair and an intense expression. Dressed in earthy-toned outfits suited to the film's globe-spanning setting, she appears against dramatic outdoor landscapes, hinting at the physically demanding journey her character undertakes. The makers describe Mandakini as a woman who is "strong, vulnerable and unforgettable in equal measure."

Set across thousands of years, ‘Varanasi’ follows a story that moves through ancient civilisations and the modern era, with key locations including Antarctica, Africa and the holy city of Varanasi. The film stars Mahesh Babu as Rudhra and Prithviraj Sukumaran as the antagonist Kumbha, while MM Keeravani reunites with Rajamouli after RRR to compose the music.

Speaking on the Hey Jonas podcast, Chopra shared an update on the project, saying, "I have been working on it for about 14 months now. But SS Rajamouli is known to take that kind of time to make movies. It's this epic adventure around the world and in time." She also revealed that audiences can expect "many amazing slow-motion jumps" in the film.

Earlier, during her appearance at Cannes Lions, Chopra praised Rajamouli's filmmaking process, saying, "He has complete and utter control on set. You just come as an actor in with the weight of your character." ‘Varanasi’ is scheduled to release in theatres worldwide on April 7, 2027.
