"This record will never be rewritten." With those bold words, legendary filmmaker Priyadarshan officially sealed what is being called a "cinematic miracle" alongside superstar Mohanlal. While the director had previously teased a collaboration during a session at the Mathrubhumi International Festival of Letters (MBIFL), the official announcement video released on the night of March 21 has turned a "once in a blue moon" rumour into a historic reality.

We aren't just talking about a 100th film; we are talking about a statistical impossibility in world cinema. For the first time ever, a director’s 100th feature film will star the exact same hero who led his very first frame in Poochakkoru Mookkuthi (1984).

"The joy isn't just because it's my 100th film," Priyadarshan explained in the video, capturing the gravity of the moment. "It's because the same hero from my first film is acting in the 100th, which is a first in world cinema history. What is great is that this record will never be rewritten; that is the kind of record we are setting."

The announcement was packed with the effortless, fun chemistry that has defined their 40-year brotherhood. When Priyadarshan described the project as a "good entertainer with music and drama," Mohanlal immediately interjected with the question every fan was thinking: "Is there no action?"

Priyadarshan’s response was a perfect nod to the "Lalettan" legacy: "You can't do without action. In a Mohanlal film, fans and families definitely expect action. My wish is to make a film that families, children, and fans can all enjoy. I am starting this film with that wish; the rest is in God's hands."

Reflecting on the rarity of the event, Mohanlal admitted that even "rare" feels like an understatement. "As a friend and an actor, this is a huge blessing for me. Like Priyan said, this isn't even a 'blue moon' event; it is rarer than that. I was the hero in the film Priyan started with, and I am the hero of his 100th film and I will be the hero of the stories he is going to write in the future," he added, sealing the historic statement with a trademark smile.

The film, which marks the 39th venture for Aashirvad Cinemas, is being produced by Antony Perumbavoor and co-produced by Binu George Alexander.
