Priyadarshan reveals Mohanlal as the lead of his landmark 100th film, calling his association with the actor his greatest fortune.

Filmmaker Priyadarshan has said that Malayalam superstar Mohanlal will play the lead in his 100th film, adding that he would be delighted if veteran producer G Suresh Kumar comes on board as the producer. He was responding to a question by senior journalist Sreekandan Nair during the ‘Team Trivandrum’ session at the Mathrubhumi International Festival of Letters.
Priyadarshan also reflected on what he considers the greatest strengths and blessings of his life—finding an actor like Mohanlal and his own unwavering decision to make films that entertain audiences. He had shared these thoughts earlier at another session titled ‘Lokapriyangaram’ at the same festival.
Recalling his formative years, Priyadarshan said it was an era shaped by a remarkable generation of filmmakers and performers, including Sathyan Anthikad and Sreenivasan, along with a host of exceptionally talented actors. He noted that actors of that time elevated their roles purely through their skill and screen presence.
Although he has directed films across several Indian languages, including Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Hindi, Priyadarshan asserted that Malayalam actors remain among the finest performers in the country.
