Thiruvananthapuram: For singer G Venugopal, dealing with the news of his own death is nothing new, as he has done it in the past as well. It was a tough task for him to convince people that he was alive, when those close to him frantically made calls to check the veracity of the news.
Now, for the second time, Venugopal has come across the difficult phase of countering the news of his death. The singer has shared a post on Facebook addressing yet another fake death report. He begins the note by saying that within a year, he has had the “good fortune” of “death arriving twice.”
Venugopal mentions that he came across the fake news in his school group after returning from a trip to Kashmir. He humourously wonders whether he should hold a press conference to announce that he has no intention of dying any time soon.
He had previously spoken about how tiring it was to respond to phone calls after such false news had circulated before. As soon as he picked up the phone and said “Hello,” people would ask, “Chetta (brother), is this really you we’re talking to?” He said it was difficult to convince them that he was very much alive.
Here’s what Venugopal wrote:
“So, here I am—fortunate enough to have ‘death’ visit me twice within a year. Just returned to Srinagar with my wife after trekking and snow climbing in Sonmarg, Gulmarg and Pahalgam in Kashmir, only to see this ‘news’ shared by my friends in the model school group with the caption: ‘If you keep dying every now and then, what are we supposed to do, da...?’ Should I now hold a press conference to announce that I don’t intend to die any time soon...? —VG”
