Ram Charan’s latest release Peddi, directed by Buchi Babu Sana, has registered a powerful opening at the global box office on its first day of release, collecting over ₹100 crore worldwide and emerging as one of the biggest openers of 2026.

Released in theatres on June 5, the sports action drama also stars Janhvi Kapoor in a key role and has drawn significant audience attention despite receiving mixed-to-positive reviews from critics.

Worldwide collection crosses ₹112 crore mark

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Peddi recorded a strong start across markets. The film is estimated to have earned a net ₹51 crore in India from more than 12,000 shows on day one.

This includes ₹18.50 crore from paid previews, pushing India’s total gross collection to ₹82.49 crore and India net to ₹69.50 crore.

Overseas markets contributed an additional ₹30 crore, taking the film’s total worldwide gross to approximately ₹112.49 crore on its opening day. The film’s performance has been driven by high occupancy in Telugu-speaking regions, along with solid turnout in overseas territories. The opening positions Peddi among the strongest Indian film debuts of the year.

Industry observers note that the combination of Ram Charan’s star power and large-scale action presentation has helped the film secure a wide global opening.

Comparison with other big releases

While Peddi has delivered a strong start, it did not surpass the opening day worldwide figures of Ranveer Singh and Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar The Revenge, which reportedly opened at ₹238.60 crore.

However, Peddi has managed to outperform several major films, including Pathaan (₹104.19 crore) and Prabhas’ The Raja Saab (₹100.9 crore), in terms of day-one global earnings.

It has also surpassed Ram Charan’s previous release Game Changer, which opened at ₹80.9 crore worldwide.

Despite the strong opening, trade analysts say the film’s long-term performance will depend on word-of-mouth and audience retention over the coming days.

With momentum already in its favour, Peddi will now be closely watched to see whether it can convert its opening into sustained box office success or face a slowdown in the coming weekend.
