Kartik Aaryan's upcoming aviation thriller ‘Captain India’ has added another familiar face to its cast. Malayalam actor Parvathy Thiruvothu has reportedly come on board the Shimit Amin directorial in a key role, although the makers are yet to reveal details about her character.

The film, backed by Harman Baweja's Baweja Studios and Bhushan Kumar's T-Series, is inspired by a major humanitarian rescue operation carried out during a crisis in a war-torn country. Kartik is set to play a pilot who takes charge of the mission and plays a crucial role in bringing people to safety.

According to Bollywood Hungama, Parvathy will have an important part in the story. While her role is being kept under wraps for now, her casting adds another strong performer to the project. Actor Manish Chaudhary, who was recently seen in ‘Chand Mera Dil’, has also reportedly joined the film in a key role.

Parvathy has worked extensively in Hindi cinema, making her Bollywood debut with ‘Qarib Qarib Single’, opposite Irrfan Khan. More recently, she appeared in ‘Kadak Singh’ and ‘Tu Yaa Main’. She is also part of ‘Storm’, the upcoming Prime Video series backed by Hrithik Roshan.

For director Shimit Amin, ‘Captain India’ marks a return to the big screen after a long break. Amin is best known for films such as ‘Ab Tak Chhappan’, ‘Chak De! India’ and ‘Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year’. His last feature film, ‘Rocket Singh’, was released in 2009, making his comeback one of the more closely watched aspects of the project.

Kartik, meanwhile, is expected to wrap up Kabir Khan's upcoming sports drama by the first week of September before moving on to ‘Captain India’. Production on the aviation thriller is reportedly scheduled to begin next month.

The project comes after Kartik's recent release ‘Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri’, in which he starred alongside Ananya Panday.
