Thiruvananthapuram: The official announcement of the winners of Kerala State Film Awards for 2022, originally scheduled to be held on Wednesday, has been postponed to Friday. The decision comes on account of the two-day mourning declared by the state government following the demise of veteran Congress leader Oommen Chandy on Tuesday. 

Taking to Facebook, Minister of Cultural Affairs Saji Cheriyan announced the decision and added that the awards will be announced at 3 pm on Friday (July 21) at a press conference in the PR Chamber, Secretariat. 

A total of 154 movies have been submitted for the awards. Of these, eight are children’s movies. The jury screening began on June 19. Noted Bengali filmmaker and screenplay writer Gautam Ghosh is the jury chairman.

The final jury comprises actor Gautami, cinematographer Hari Nair, sound designer D Yuvaraj and playback singer Jency Gregory. Chalachitra Academy secretary C Ajoy is member secretary of the primary and final selection committee.
