"Oh, yeh toh plastic surgery ki dukaan hai," Shruti recalled how people targeted her.

Shruti Haasan is on a roll—a multifaceted personality, a proven singer, and an excellent actor. She is currently basking in the astounding success of her latest film Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and headlined by the presence of Thalaivar Rajinikanth.
In the film, Shruti plays the role of Preethi. Her portrayal of the character—with several emotional layers—has won widespread praise from audiences, marking a significant milestone in her glowing career.
Coolie is a major star vehicle. The ensemble cast also includes Nagarjuna, Upendra Rao, Rachita Ram, Soubin Shahir, and Aamir Khan, apart from Shruti and Rajinikanth.
The film is currently running successfully in theatres and has already become the third-highest-grossing film in Rajinikanth’s career, earning over ₹400 crores worldwide.
Meanwhile, Shruti—who juggles careers as both an actor and a singer—recently lent her voice to the widely acclaimed song "Vinveli Nayaga" from Mani Ratnam’s Thug Life, composed by A.R. Rahman. The song became a viral hit soon after its release.
But what has now become the talking point is Shruti’s candid revelations in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India (THRI). In an insightful conversation, she reflected on the challenges faced by women in the entertainment industry and shared personal experiences on various fronts.
She opened up about the judgments she faced after acknowledging her cosmetic procedures:
“When I spoke up, I got comments like, ‘Oh, yeh toh plastic surgery ki dukaan hai’ (Oh, she is full of plastic surgery). I know exactly what I’ve done and how much—and how much more others have done. That’s the price of being honest. And that’s okay. I don’t promote it; it’s simply my choice.”
The actor called out the hypocrisy and double standards prevailing in the industry and explained how individuals are often targeted for speaking the truth and standing up for what is right.
Yet, unfazed by the fierce challenges thrown at her, Shruti continues to tread an independent path, striving to create a legacy of her own.
