“I still remember, after the release of the film, he texted saying…,” Kalyani recollected.

Kalyani Priyadarshan, as we all know, is prepping for her multiple releases this Onam. While she plays the lead in Dominic Arun’s sci-fi movie Lokah - Chapter 1: Chandra, she also stars in Althaf Salim’s star vehicle Odum Kuthira Chaadum Kuthira, which also features actors including Fahadh Faasil, Vinay Forrt, Lal, and Revathi Pillai.
Lokah - Chapter 1: Chandra, backed by Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films, is touted as Malayalam’s first female superhero film, with rumored cameos by Dulquer himself and Tovino Thomas. The ambitious film also assembles a brigade of young stars, including Naslen, Chandu Salim Kumar, and Arun Kurian. Expectations are soaring high as the movie is set to hit theatres worldwide this Onam.
However, what has got the internet buzzing is Kalyani’s words about Dulquer—a statement she made during Lokah’s promotions while talking to Filmibeat Malayalam. When asked about the young superstar alongside whom she made her Malayalam debut in Anoop Sathyan’s Varane Avashyamund, Kalyani reflected on their special bond.
“Dulquer is not my best friend... not someone I call daily, but anytime I have ‘doubts’ about my career or acting, he is the go-to person—I seek advice from him,” Kalyani Priyadarshan said.
“I still remember, after the release of Varane Avashyamund, he texted me saying, ‘Hope you see all the love that is coming your way. Please know that you deserve it.’” Kalyani reflected on Dulquer’s kind words—a testament to their mutual respect and camaraderie.
The anecdote has served cinephiles as yet another example of the beautiful friendships in the movie world.
Meanwhile, Dulquer is getting ready for the release of the much-hyped multilingual film Kaantha, headlined by him and also starring Bhagyashri Borse. Interestingly, the film is backed by Rana Daggubati’s Spirit Media.
Dulquer was last seen in Venky Atluri’s commercially successful film Lucky Baskhar. On the other hand, Vineeth Sreenivasan’s Varshangalkku Shesham, also featuring Pranav Mohanlal, Dhyan Sreenivasan, Aju Varghese, and Nivin Pauly, was among the last Malayalam films Kalyani featured in.
