Noted actor and playwright Vikraman Nair passes away

Kozhikode: Noted actor, director and playwright Vikraman Nair passed away here on Monday night. He was 78. He had been undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Kozhikode.

Along with his theatre career spanning 60 years, Vikraman Nair also acted in several movies and serials. He had been living at ‘Krishna’ in Kunduparamba, Kozhikode. He has performed in over 10,000 stages and acted in around 200 plays, including 53 professional ones.

Although born in Palakkad’s Mannarkkad, Vikraman Nair spent most of his childhood in Kozhikode. He studied in St Joseph’s High School and was an active presence in art and cultural committee activities from the age of 16.

Vikraman Nair was a part of theatre troupes namely Sangamam and Stage India. The funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9 am.

He is survived by wife Lakshmi Devi, daughters Durga Sujith, Dr Saraswathy Sreenath and sons-in-law KP Sujith and KS Sreenath.
