The terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, has sent shockwaves across the country. The tragic incident, which claimed the lives of at least 26 people, has drawn widespread condemnation and public outcry. The attack was carried out by the Pakistan-backed militant group, The Resistance Front. Intelligence sources have identified the mastermind as Saifullah Kasuri, a Lashkar-e-Taiba commander based in Pakistan.

Among those reacting to the tragedy is Indian actor and singer Andrea Jeremiah, who took to social media to express her sorrow and reflect on her past visit to the scenic region.

“Once upon a time, I too was a tourist in #Pahalgam…” she wrote on Instagram, sharing photographs from her previous trip to the area.

Jeremiah expressed her condolences to the families of the victims and voiced concern for the people of Kashmir, stating:

“My heart goes out to the families of those affected by the terrorist attack. But my heart also breaks for the people of Kashmir who will be subjected to even more surveillance and scrutiny after this incident.”

Calling for unity and compassion, she added, “At a time when our country is becoming increasingly polarised, it is our duty as citizens not to be swayed by hatred towards any particular religion or community. I do not speak my mind often, but I felt this needed to be said. There is no space for hate here – not in my comment section, not in our world.”

In response to the attack, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh asserted that those responsible – both the attackers and their handlers – would not be spared.

Meanwhile, diplomatic tensions between India and Pakistan have escalated in the aftermath of the incident.

As the nation mourns, authorities remain on high alert, and further security measures are being considered in the wake of the attack.
