Veteran actor Mohanlal has hailed Kerala as a shining example of Viksit Bharat, highlighting the state’s blend of heritage and modern development. Speaking on the GDP@MyGov podcast on MyGovIndia — a citizen engagement platform of the central government — he pointed to transformative infrastructure projects as evidence of Kerala’s rapid growth.

“Kerala stands as a state where ancient heritage and modern growth go hand in hand.... Kerala is scripting a strong development story through transformative infrastructure projects like Vizhinjam International Seaport, Kochi Metro, Sagarika Cruise Terminal, upgrading of NH 66, and introduction of Vande Bharat trains, all of which improve connectivity, train, tourism and job,” he said.

He noted that this development trajectory mirrors the broader vision of Viksit Bharat.

“Far beyond a dream come true”

The actor also reflected on receiving the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, describing it as a recognition he had never imagined even in his wildest dreams.

“When I was informed about the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, the first thing that struck my mind was about the privilege that I got by being selected for this supreme award and a great honour. I firmly believe that this is a recognition given to the entire Malayalam cinema industry and it is nothing but destiny that has given me the opportunity to receive it on behalf of my industrial fraternity,” he said.

He added, “To me, I haven't ever dreamt this even in my wildest dreams and hence it is definitely not a dream come true to me. This is something far beyond and I would like to dedicate this award to the Malayalam film industry.”
