Malayalam young actor Anaswara Rajan is currently hogging the limelight for her commendable performance in the recently released Vyasanasametham Bandhumithradhikal, directed by debutant S. Vipin. In this film filled with humour, Anaswara shares screen space with popular actors including Mallika Sukumaran, Baiju Santhosh, and Siju Sunny.

Anaswara, now one of the most sought-after young actors in the South, often grabs headlines not just for her stellar body of work but also for her bold statements. One such instance recently occurred during a candid interview with the YouTube channel Variety Media.

During the conversation, Anaswara was asked about the criticism she received for her 'overboard' performance in Painkili, which was released earlier this year. The film, directed by first-time director Sreejith Babu, also starred Aavesham fame Sajin Gopu.

The actor, however, responded calmly to the question, stating that she does not “always expect laurels and appreciation for every role.” She added, “There can be mistakes—criticism is bound to happen. I take things in stride. If something doesn’t work for the audience, they will point it out, and I’m completely okay with it.”

Speaking further, Anaswara said, “See, with Painkili, we were clear right from the onset. Even during promotions, we had stated that we put in ten times the usual effort into every scene. That was the kind of film it was supposed to be. Maybe the acting meter I set for myself in Painkili wasn’t right, and perhaps that’s the reason it didn’t work the way it was meant to,” the actor confessed in a rather introspective tone.

With several exciting projects lined up, Anaswara is expected to scale greater heights in Malayalam cinema. Her reflections on her performances can well be deemed as signs of a wonderful actor in the making.
