The Ghibli trend is taking the internet by storm, so much so that Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, himself urged people to take a break from it. But that didn’t stop the trend from spreading even further, with big names from various industries hopping on the bandwagon.

The latest celebrity to embrace the iconic Studio Ghibli-style illustrations is Malayalam superstar Mammootty. His production house, Mammootty Kampany, shared stunning Ghibli-inspired posters of his upcoming film, Bazooka. The images, which featured the actor in the whimsical, animated style of the beloved Japanese studio, immediately grabbed the attention of fans.

Not far behind was Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan, who joined the creative wave by sharing several Ghibli-style images on his blog.

The trend, initially driven by a passion for animation and nostalgic anime vibes, has now become a playful way for celebrities to engage with their fans.

While many embraced the trend, it also sparked outrage among some social media users, who criticised the AI-generated images as an insult to the creative genius of legendary Japanese filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki.
