
Kochi: Malayalam cinema bid a tearful farewell to filmmaker Shafi, who passed away on the wee hours of Sunday. His funeral was held at the Kaloor Juma Masjid in Kochi, with prominent figures from the film industry, including Mammootty and Suresh Gopi, offering their final respects.
Rasheed M H, fondly known as Shafi, was undergoing treatment after suffering a stroke on January 16 and remained in critical condition for several days before his demise.
Shafi's body was brought to his residence early this morning. Family members, friends, and several well-wishers gathered at his home to pay their respects.
The public was allowed to pay their respects at the Kaloor auditorium from 9 AM to 12 PM. Prominent personalities from the film industry, including Mammootty, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Manoj K. Jayan, Sibi Malayil, Vinayan, Ramesh Pisharody, Suresh Krishna, and Namitha Pramod, paid their final respects.
Afterward, the body was taken back to the residence and then transported to Kaloor Juma Masjid by 2 PM for the final rites and burial.
