Kozhikode: Following a one-year hiatus, the Apsara Theatre in Kozhikode is once again ready to welcome its audience.
For over five decades, this theatre, located near Kozhikode railway station, has been a significant cultural landmark, deeply cherished by the people of Malabar.
Listin Stephen's Magic Frames is the new owner of the theatre, which has been renamed Magic Frames Apsara. The 70mm theatre boasts 1013 seats, making it one of the biggest in Kerala. Magic Frames Apsara is coming back with new features, including sound systems.
Mammootty starrer Turbo is the opening film of Magic Frames Apsara. Listin Stephen said that the audience is cordially invited to the theatre. Turbo releases on Thursday, May 23.
The theatre, started by Thomman Joseph Purakkal, was inaugurated by versatile actors Prem Nazir and Sharada in 1971. At the time of the inauguration, Apsara, with its 70.70 mm screen, was advertised as Kerala's biggest air-conditioned theatre.
