Veteran playback singer KS Chithra shared a deeply emotional message remembering her late daughter, years after her tragic passing.
Posting a picture of her daughter Nandana, Chithra wrote, “The fact that you are no longer here will always cause me pain, but you are forever in my heart until we meet again.”
The heartfelt note reflected the singer’s enduring grief and the void left by her only child.
Nandana, born in 2002 after many years of marriage to Vijay Shankar, was a special child with Down syndrome. She passed away in 2011 following a drowning accident in Dubai at a young age, a tragedy that left the singer devastated.
Over the years, Chithra has spoken about how spirituality and music helped her cope with the loss.
Despite the personal setback, the celebrated singer remained dedicated to her craft. With a career spanning more than four decades, she has recorded over 25,000 songs across languages, including Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi and Kannada.
Fondly known as the “Nightingale of South India,” Chithra has collaborated with some of the biggest composers in the industry and received several honours, including multiple National Film Awards and the Padma Bhushan.
