K S Chithra, whose enchanting voice is familiar to almost all Indians, has shared an emotional note in memory of her beloved daughter Nandana on her birth anniversary. Expressing the pain of her profound loss, Chithra shared that the passage of time has done little to heal the deep wound left behind by her daughter's untimely demise.

"I have often heard that every birth has a purpose, and once that purpose is fulfilled, the soul moves to an eternal realm. I have also heard that time heals wounds. But only those who have lived through such loss know the truth – it does not. That wound still remains, raw and painful. Miss you, Nandana..." Chithra wrote, pouring her heart out.

Even on Nandana's previous birthdays, Chithra had shared poignant messages. On one such occasion, she wrote, "Years may pass, but you will remain forever young, celebrating your birthday with the angels in heaven."

In earlier interviews, Chithra shared fond memories of her daughter and revealed that Nandana was especially fond of the song "Enthu paranjalum nee entethalle vave...". She recalled how Nandana believed the song's lyrics, particularly the word "Vava”, were addressed to her. No matter how late Chithra’s stage shows stretched into the night, Nandana would insist on staying awake until this song was performed. After her passing, Chithra found it too painful to sing the song and refrained from performing it for a long time.

Chithra and her husband Vijay Shankar had waited for years before they were blessed with Nandana in 2002. Their joy and celebration, however, were tragically short-lived. In 2011, at the tender age of eight, Nandana tragically passed away after an accident at their villa in Dubai, where she fell into a swimming pool.

Even today, the memory of Nandana lives on in Chithra's heart, her words resonating with the grief and love of a mother who has endured the greatest loss.
