South Korean pop star Hyuna sparked concern among fans after collapsing onstage at the Waterbomb 2025 Macau festival, just weeks after revealing she had lost 10 kilograms in a month.

South Korean pop star Hyuna (HyunA) has issued an apology to fans after collapsing in the middle of her performance, sparking concerns about her health and weight loss. The 33-year-old singer fainted on Sunday while performing her hit song ‘Bubble Pop’ at the Waterbomb 2025 Macau music festival.
Collapse caught on camera
According to footage circulating on social media, Hyuna suddenly lost consciousness during her act. Her backup dancers quickly came to her aid, and a security guard carried her off the stage. The incident came shortly after the singer revealed she had lost 10 kilograms in just one month – a claim that drew widespread concern among fans and experts alike.
A report in The Korea Times noted that Hyuna had recently opened up about her rapid weight loss, which she achieved through an intense diet regimen. Health specialists have warned that such extreme changes can result in fatigue, dizziness, and nutritional deficiencies – factors that may have contributed to her collapse.
Weight loss following speculation
Following her marriage to fellow singer Yong Junhyung last year, Hyuna had faced repeated pregnancy rumours after her appearance changed slightly due to weight gain. Reports from Chosunbiz said that the scrutiny led her to start a strict diet plan on October 3.
She acknowledged at the time that she had been eating more than usual since her wedding and had gained weight quickly. Alongside the announcement, Hyuna posted an older photo of herself, expressing her wish to return to her earlier physique.
By November 4, she revealed she had lost 10 kilograms in a single month but stated that her diet was still ongoing. Experts have cautioned that losing weight this rapidly can place serious strain on the body, possibly leading to the kind of collapse witnessed onstage.
Hyuna was previously diagnosed with vasovagal syncope in 2020, a condition that can cause sudden fainting due to a sharp drop in blood pressure and heart rate. The disorder is often triggered by stress, exhaustion, dehydration, or rapid weight fluctuations, which reduce blood flow to the brain and lead to brief loss of consciousness. At the time of her diagnosis, the singer temporarily suspended her activities, with doctors noting that overwork and extreme physical strain were likely contributing factors.
Singer apologises to fans
After regaining consciousness, Hyuna apologised publicly for worrying her fans.
“I’m really sorry. It was a short break between performances, but I wanted to show you my best. I don’t remember anything that happened, and I feel like I wasn’t professional,” she wrote on social media.
“I’ll try to build my strength and keep working hard. It would be great if everything went the way I want, but I’ll try. I want to thank you for loving and supporting me from when I was so young until now,” the singer added.
