The controversy surrounding Kim Soo-hyun’s alleged relationship with the late actress Kim Sae-ron has taken a new turn as her bereaved family prepares to reveal further evidence. According to K-media outlet Hankyung, the family has scheduled a press conference for March 27 at 1:30 PM KST (10 AM IST) in Seocho-gu, Seoul to present proof supporting their claims that the two actors were in a relationship when Kim Sae-ron was still a minor.

The family alleges that Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Sae-ron dated for six years, starting in 2015, when she was 15 and he was 27. These claims, originally disclosed through YouTube channel Garosero Research Institute, have been denied by Kim Soo-hyun’s agency, GOLDMEDALIST, which dismissed them as false.

Digital forensics and legal action

In response to growing scrutiny over their claims, Kim Sae-ron’s family had earlier announced that they would conduct a digital forensic analysis of the late actress’s photos and videos. The results of this examination will reportedly be revealed during the upcoming press conference.

Kim Sae-ron’s family attorney, Bu Ji Seok of Buyu Law Firm, stated that the legal team will also announce legal action against misinformation spread regarding the bereaved family. Previously, the family released private photos and videos allegedly taken during the actors’ relationship. However, after GOLDMEDALIST questioned their authenticity, the family pursued forensic verification to support their claims.

Kim Soo-hyun’s agency files countersuit

As the controversy escalated, Kim Soo-hyun’s agency filed a lawsuit against Kim Sae-ron’s family and Garosero Research Institute operator Kim Se Eui. The agency accused them of blackmail and violating the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Crimes for allegedly sharing an explicit photo of the actor.

Initially, GOLDMEDALIST denied any romantic involvement between Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Sae-ron. However, amid increasing scrutiny, they later admitted that the two dated but claimed the relationship only began in 2019, after she became an adult, and ended in 2020.

New allegations regarding Kim Sae-ron’s marriage

Separate from the dating controversy, new revelations about Kim Sae-ron’s marriage in the US have surfaced. A YouTuber accused of defamation by the family claimed that Kim Sae-ron had secretly married an American man. KBIZoom reported that Garosero Research Institute released an official marriage certificate from the New Jersey Department of Health, confirming that she had legally married on January 12, 2025.

Her husband recently spoke out, denying allegations that he had controlled her or forced her into marriage. He also dismissed speculation that Kim Sae-ron was pregnant, stating that she had no intention of having a child and was on birth control during their time together.

The late actress’s ex-boyfriend and American husband have now issued statements, adding to the growing complexity of the case.

With both sides standing firm on their claims, Kim Sae-ron’s bereaved family is set to present what they believe to be irrefutable proof of the relationship.
