Kerala High Court judge to attend screening of ‘Haal’ at studio in Kochi on Saturday

Thiruvananthapuram: Following the Kerala High Court’s directive to watch the Shane Nigam film Haal, which has been mired in controversy over certain references and reportedly a scene depicting the consumption of beef, it has now been confirmed that Justice V.G. Arun, along with a team of advocates, will attend the screening of the film scheduled for 7 p.m. on Saturday at a studio in Kakkanad.
The controversy
The film was denied certification by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), which cited “objectionable content” in several scenes and dialogues. The board reportedly asked the filmmakers to remove 15 scenes, including references to “Dhwaja Pranamam”, the line “Sangham kawal und,” and a scene depicting the consumption of beef biryani. Other portions flagged include a dialogue replacing “Sultan Bathery” with “Ganapathi Vattam,” which the board also sought to cut.
